Tom Cruise, Harry Potter, Star Wars… and Gary!

Whether it’s Tom Cruise landing in a helicopter in Trafalgar Square, a chase across Tower Bridge in The Mummy Returns or Madonna appearing in Peckham Plunge Baths (really!), London provides some of the finest film locations in the world. And the common link is Senior Art Director Gary Tomkins, who’s also worked on major movie franchises Harry Potter and Star Wars.

Whether you’re thinking of a career in cinematic design, are an interested film-goer, or just like a good yarn, Gary will keep you entertained and informed. Plus he’ll tell you why he once bought up all the bags of flour from a shop’s shelves in Greenwich!

London vs Birmingham: Shane O’Connor

The London Podcast raises its eyes beyond the M25 to take in the view from the Midlands. This edition is a mash-up with another podcast, Bull & Specs. Adrian Lacey is the solo presenter (and producer) of the London Podcast, but co-hosts Bull & Specs with talented broadcaster Shane O’Connor, whom he interviews in this show. ‘I Interview Myself’

If talking to yourself is a concern, interviewing yourself is deeply worrying! Here, Adrian opens up – to himself – about how he was drawn to radio, as well as sun and clouds in family life on the outskirts of London. Plus, he’s guilty of industrial quantities of namedropping over his radio hero, Kenny Everett, with whom he worked at BBC Television Centre in west London.

Social media addiction guru

Addicted to Facebook? Can’t leave your bed before checking Twitter?  Lost without likes?

This could be the show for you. (Whisper it: you may have a social media addiction.) London-based Irish consultant Seamus O’Healey shares some, er, novel thoughts about how to cope. He also name-drops some celebrity clients.

Adrian takes you to the heart of high-class healthcare in the West End, Harley Street, where Seamus practises, and along the way shares a Beatles story centring on an adjacent street.

Celebrity references may be figments of Seamus’s imagination.
