Terror & Tenderness: London Attack

London’s terror attack on Wednesday 22nd March 2017 in Westminster left five people dead and over 40 injured. Here, Adrian Lacey retraces the route of both the attacker, Khalid Masood and the medical staff from St Thomas’ Hospital who ran across Westminster Bridge towards the Houses of Parliament to help the victims.

Hear from a London firefighter and his family as they visit the area days after the atrocity, plus Adrian’s personal reflections on having walked the same route a few years before having been a patient at St Thomas’.

This show is dedicated to the memory of the deceased victims of the attack – PC Keith Palmer, Kurt Cochran, Aysha Frade and Leslie Rhodes – and with condolences to their friends and family and with thoughts and well wishes for the injured.

Mrs Pepys Feels a Bit Funny

Elisabeth Pepys, wife of 17th-century London blogger Samuel, reads out another diary entry here. In The London Podcast Mr Pepys has hurtled into the 21st-century while Lizzie is left in 1669.

This time she’s inspired by actresses such as Nell Gwyn to take to the London stage for a spot of performing. But will her act stand up or fall down?

Listen closely to decode some possible modern-day messages. Your full ‘detective’ skills may be required!

Mrs Pepys is played by the talented Sarah Kempton who often performs in London (and elsewhere) as part of ad lib troupe Crime Scene Improvisation (crimesceneimpro.com).

Richard Kurti: Author, Screenwriter… and ex-Flatmate

Richard Kurti is a two-time author, is BAFTA-nominated, has worked on screenplays for Hollywood studios – and is still trying to forget living with presenter Adrian Lacey yonks ago in Clapham, south west London!

Here he talks in depth about the tragic inspiration for his first book Monkey Wars, and his near-future dystopian second novel Maladapted. Together with Adrian, he revisits their shared Clapham past and reflects on how London – and house prices – have changed since they lived together.

With personal views from – and thanks to – Lucy Carr at a Clapham estate agents.
