Whether it’s Tom Cruise landing in a helicopter in Trafalgar Square, a chase across Tower Bridge in The Mummy Returns or Madonna appearing in Peckham Plunge Baths (really!), London provides some of the finest film locations in the world. And the common link is Senior Art Director Gary Tomkins, who’s also worked on major movie franchises Harry Potter and Star Wars.
Whether you’re thinking of a career in cinematic design, are an interested film-goer, or just like a good yarn, Gary will keep you entertained and informed. Plus he’ll tell you why he once bought up all the bags of flour from a shop’s shelves in Greenwich!

Visit the site of Tom Cruise’s helicopter landing by Nelson’s column in this podcast, and see the effect of Gary’s (and Tom’s!) work on YouTube.

This is a must listen-to for any budding film producer or in fact anyone interested as to why parts of London occasionally gets parts shut down temporarily for filming to eventually showcase on the global stage. Brilliant behind the scenes interview. Fascinating!
